Bruce Barclay : the Only Candidate Who Petitioned
Door-to-Door Listening to Voters to Get on the Ballot

Since November I have been listening to people's ideas. Voters want:

People's ideas respected.
Leaders who work together.
Change – open-minded leaders, not more politicians.

New Energetic Voice for County Leadership

Since 1975 I have worked to make Portland better serving my hometown as: business owner, teacher, public defender trial assistant, parent, and church and community leader. I am a Portland native with a global perspective shaped by years abroad.

Guiding Principles

  • County government exists to serve all the people.
  • County Commissioners should work hard and embody exemplary honesty, integrity, and compassion.
  • All policies should improve the lives of the least fortunate, protect everyone's rights and safety, and foster understanding of differences amongst people.
  • Well-managed county government should efficiently provide essential services.

Beholden to No Special Interests

This is my first run for political office. My campaign is financed solely by small citizen contributions. I pledge to take no special interest money. I will ask incisive questions and make prudent decisions for the public good.

New Solutions for a Brighter Future

  • Small scale solar and wind power generation from all properties, reducing electric bills and creating clean, renewable power. This initiative expands green business opportunities and increases Portland's reputation as a world environmental leader.
  • Reform property taxes so everyone pays their fair share, including owners of commercial and industrial properties. Improved assessment practices would provide additional revenue from uncollected business taxes. Added funds would upgrade health care and basic infrastructure.

I vow to make Multnomah County responsive to the people.
