" The plan should acknowledge that automobiles are the preferred mode of transport by the citizens of Portland " the agency said. " They vote with their cars every day. "... METRO'S SOLUTION: Toll lanes – Peak period pricing – Regional gas tax – Vehicle miles traveled tax – Road maintenance fees – Bridge tolls – Property tax based financing – Payroll tax – Higher registration fees. The Traffic Relief Options Task Force recommends that Peak Period Pricing be considered for : Hwy 205 – Hwy 212 – I-5 north corridor – Hwy 217 – Hwy 26 . Once they start putting up toll roads, why would they stop? I'm not against mass transit, but the motoring public isn't getting fair treatment. Why should mass transit get 55% of the budget and the highway system only get 9% of the budget. My opinion is Metro plans to keep saying that funding is not available, when in reality their priorities are all wrong. The 2040 Plan is to bully the public into submission.
