Multnomah County Online Voters' Guide
May 2008 Primary Election

MULTNOMAH COUNTY - County Commissioner, District 4

John Winters

JOHN WINTERS

OCCUPATION: Small Business Owner – Semi Retired

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND: Self Employed – Excavating Business 10 years

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Portland Community College – Assoc. Degree – Liberal Arts/General Studies

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: None

I am a 60 year old home and land owner in East Multnomah County . I am running for District 4 Position because I feel property owner's rights were violated when we were not Allowed to vote on West of Sandy River Plan.

When government agencies make policy changes affecting our homes, property and well being, voters should have an opportunity to decide the out come when new rules and regulations are proposed.

I am not affiliated with any special interest group nor have I ever sought an elected position. I firmly believe all government elected officials need to remember they were Elected to represent the will of the people and act accordingly. I know I have the will power never to sell out to special interest groups or lobbyists whose agendas are not in the best interest of my constituents in East Multnomah County.

I sincerely want to work for the people. I believe I have common sense – If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, lays an egg that becomes a duck – It's a duck. If you cut a tree down in the forest and there is no one to hear it fall, does it make a noise? YES…

Let us the people of East Multnomah County bring common sense policies to government decision-making. There are moments is my life when I feel I can hold the sun in the palm of my hand and drink the cool clear water from the furthest star. In other words, I feel I have the fortitude, energy and imagination to solve problems and lets not forget common sense.

I would greatly appreciate your vote.

Sincerely Yours

John Winters
