Ballot Delivery By E-Mail
In 2006, Multnomah County implemented a Ballot Delivery by E-Mail program for Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) voters.
Multnomah County Elections mails Military/Overseas ballots 45 days prior to the Election. This program is meant for UOCAVA voters who do not expect to receive the mailed ballot in time to return it by Election Day.
Who can participate:
Any member of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard), Merchant Marine and their dependents, commissioned corps of the Public Health Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Overseas Citizens are defined as U.S. citizens who reside outside the United States.
What is an E-ballot:
Qualified voters will receive an exact image of their regular absentee ballot via email. The ballot is then returned using normal mail delivery. (A regular ballot is also mailed to the voter and should be used if time permits).
When:
E-ballots will be emailed and received by the voter approximately 45 days prior to the election. We want to ensure that you receive you ballot in a timely manner with enough time to vote and return it in time to be counted.
Where:
Voters can receive their ballots anywhere in the world in a matter of minutes.
Why:
Multnomah County remains committed to ensuring the right to vote for our military and overseas voters. We will make every effort to give all Americans a voice in the democratic process and the opportunity to cast a ballot from anywhere in the world.
